The great feature of Foredom's SR series flex shaft motor is its reversibility. Alternating the motor's direction is useful in symmetrical grinding and carving, extends the life of some abrasives, speeds up and facilitates metal polishing, and helps to keep dust and grindings flying away from right-handed users. Left-handed users have more control of the cutting tool when the motor is in reverse mode. The all new, 1/6 HP ball bearing flexshaft motor has 33% more power than its predecessor - added power that minimizes stalling or slowing under load. Furnished with Foredom's FCT foot control, shaft/sheath, no. 30 handpiece with chuck key (item no. 236-430) plus a 43 piece set of attachments, rotating bur and tool stand, and shaft lubricant. With Collet-Style Handpiece For high speed applications up to 38,000 rpm including light deburring of cast pieces, bright cutting in jewelry making and fine detailing in wood. Kit includes control box, handpiece with 2.35 mm (3/32") collet, variable speed foot control, handpiece cradle, spare pair of motor brushes, spare fuse and collet changing wrenches. The back of the control box has a convenient Voltage Selector switch for operating with either 115 or 230 volt operation. This Kit is already set for 110-115 Volt use. The control converts AC current to DC current required for the handpiece. Compared to flexible shaft machines, micromotors have less torque, however, their higher speed results in a comparable rate of material removal with a lighter touch. The simple cord connection between the handpiece motor and control box is another key advantage. Unlike the "drag" and general restriction in movement that you have with a shaft and sheath, micromotors offer much greater freedom of movement. H.MH-170 High Speed Rotary Handpiece has a slender, contoured grip for precise and very high speed work and quick release rotary type chuck. It has a fan cooled, brush-type continuous duty motor that runs cool and vibration free with permanently lubricated, shielded ball bearings that require no lubrication. H.MH-170 comes with a 2.35 mm (3/32") collet already installed. Other size collets are available separately. Collets are easy to install and change with supplied collet changing wrench. Bur changes are quick and easy with a simple twist of the front section of the Handpiece. A cradle is also supplied for the handpiece when not in use. This configuration eliminates vibration and chatter while providing greater grinding precision and a much wider speed range (0-35,000 rpm) than a flexible shaft grinder. The Marathon III Champion is compact and portable, measuring only 4.5" x 6.1" x 3.4" and weighing only 5.25 lbs. Continuous variable speed is regulated through a dial on the control unit, while the foot control serves as an on/off switch. The control unit features a reverse switch, a built-in bur holder for 6 burs, and a selector switch for voltage (110 or 220 volts). The handpiece is equipped with a quick-release chuck incorporating a 3/32" collet and measures 6" long. When not in use, the handpiece is stored in the handpiece holder attached to the control unit. Surprisingly, The Marathon III costs less than most flexible shaft grinders. Made in Korea.
